Quiet, remote location perfect to relax. Great food, beer, service and friendly owner and staff. Booked a superior double garden room which had private outdoor seating, didn’t use it this time but intend to return. Stayed for 3 course evening meal and breakfast all of which great quality.

Nice little market town with plenty of places to eat in the evenings, even in the winter. It is a good centre for visiting other places nearby and it has the main attraction of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Clean tidy and relaxing.
Clean tidy and relaxing. The birds at the pond were lovely to see. Even saw a kingfisher. Hot tub was very nice and they even turned up the temperature to meet our preference. The hot tub was checked and attended to promptly ever day of our stay. I know Pickering very well as my daughters lives there. We used the site as a place to relax and be with my family after loosing my brother few weeks before. My husband had also retired that weekend so we wanted to be close to our family. All our needs were met but could have done with few more cooking dishes and trays as we did not want to go out to eat. Would recommend the site to others.

Such a beautiful part of the country.
Such a beautiful part of the country. The town itself is great just to have a good walk around. But you are close to other locations eg. Whitby. To really enjoy in my opinion one of the best locations in England. Excellent for walkers, photography ect

Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction. The stops are interesting and mostly independent! Parking is plentiful! Pickering is a fabulous base to explore the moors! Just 20 minutes to Whitby, 20 miles to York. Plenty of places to eat, lovely cafes and pubs! Don’t forget to visit the Castle. Scarborough is a 30 minute drive. People in the town are very friendly and the shops are very welcoming of dogs. Pickering is a real gem of a town! The purpose of our visit was to visit the Bangers and Cash Auction House, and to visit there memorable museum in Thornton le Dale. Pickering was a nice place. We went out of season so it was quiet and only went for two days. Ate at a Indian restaurant which was recommended to us.Helen

Would highly recommend eating in . Staff were very helpful, friendly and clearly interested in their guests and attentive to their customers. Great rural location but close to Pickering too. Loads of parking at hotel. Well managed grounds with nice outdoor seating ares to take in the views. Bed was very comfy and good water pressure showers and baths. Well appointed small bar with reasonable prices for drinks.

Once we arrived we moved straight in, the lodge was very comfortable and cosy. All the basics were there cooking facilities, cutlery, plates etc, iron and board etc etc. On the Saturday we walked into Pickering, there is a footpath all the way from Wrelton into Pickering, but a handy bus service also in and out of town. It's a pretty little town with cute shops, a castle, and a steam train. It's perfect for mooching around, and as a base to explore the glorious North York Moors and the coast around Whitby and Scarborough.
