The location is in a nice area of Basel very close to the Rhein , with nice little Cafes and restaurant. ( A bit tricky to find) Only 10 min walk away to the city centre. The room itself was not very big, but high quality interiors, very comfortable bed, the bathroom was very spacious. The weather was extremely hot for beginning of September. We struggled a bit with the nights as we only had very warm down feather duvets without AC. Couldn’t open the windows because of the outdoor noise of the bar on the ground floor and the main hotel on the opposite side of the narrow road. It was a shame that we only spotted the coffee and tea facilities outside the room on the corridor when we departed.

At the meeting point of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is an eclectic mix of historic and modern, tranquil and vibrant. With Swiss cleanliness and efficiency thrown in for good measure.
Augusta Raurica on its outskirts houses a well-preserved Roman theatre, while the Old Town is a museum of medieval buildings. The Renaissance Town Hall looks down on Marktplatz’s daily market, while the red sandstone and colourful tiles of the Münster were reconstructed in the 19th century. Bringing it right up to date are the modern creations of city residents Herzog & De Meuron, designers of London’s Tate Modern.
When you’ve finished exploring this architectural heritage, there are still plenty of things to do in Basel. The city’s fine art museum is the world’s oldest art collection, and the zoo is the oldest and largest in Switzerland. Remember to bring plenty of Swiss francs for the shopping mile along Clarastrasse and Freiestrasse.
The Basel accommodation on Booking.com ranges from hotels in Grossbasel to B&Bs in Kleinbasel, home to the nightlife. If you’re flying into Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport in February or March you might just catch Fasnacht: Switzerland’s biggest carnival. You’ll have to get up early to see it start though - 4am!
Lovely walkable historical city

Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated!
Basel was much nicer than I had anticipated! I usually go to Luzern and Zurich while traveling by train; making them brief stops of two or three days. This time I stopped in Basel and I was delighted with this wonderful city! I can’t wait to return and plan on staying a few more days to take it all in! Wonderful for shopping and dining and easy to get to on the train. Also convenient for visiting surrounding areas, making an ideal home base for longer visits in Switzerland.

We absolutely loved the zoo!
We absolutely loved the zoo! Quite small but the layout was deceptive so that it seemed much larger. The animals appeared well cared for and the enclosures were spacious with attention to enriching the environment for them, while at the same time allowing the visitors to get very close to them. In a very expensive country the entrance fee was very reasonable and half price with the Basel card.
The university botanical garden was also a little gem with a collection of unusual plants beautifully displayed and free to visit.
Basel itself an attractive city with a good feel about it. Don’t miss the quirky fountains near the theatre in the centre of town. Everything is very expensive for a British visitor which applies to Switzerland in general.

Perfect for a city break and good connection even to travel to other cities nationally and internationally as Basel is sandwhiched between France and Germany so, up to you where your heart will lead you for a day trip towards those countries.
Peaceful and efficient. Trasport good, people chilled.
Be ready to bring some money if you need to stay longer.

Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it.
Basel is magical, I really enjoyed visiting it. The old town is so so nice. It's also very well connected to other places like Reigoldswil for the waterfall or to Augusta Raurica which I recommend.

Lovely city, but very expensive!
Lovely city, but very expensive! Mind you that most kitchens close at 21h and don't accept customers well in advance, as well as lots of places are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Go for all the beauty of the city, but bring the big wallet and plan to eat out early if you don't rent a place with a kichen and cook yourself. Don't bother to stay on a Monday, and consider to leave early on a Sunday, those two days are very, very quiet in Basel!

We spent two nights in this hotel during our trip to Switzerland, one at the beginning of our trip when we arrived in Basel, and another one before we left the country. When we came back for our second night of stay, Tamara at the reception and Leonardo at the buffet remembered us and knew us by name. The kindness and professionalism of the staff makes you feel like you are in a five star hotel.
Across the board great hotel. Loved the room, modern, great size, great deep bathtub. Staff were so friendly. Location right outside the old town gate was perfect. Tram/Bus stops right outside the hotel. Free transportaion card was great - 5 minute tram ride to the main train station. I would stay hear again in a heartbeat. I cant think of one negative.
It is a good hotel clean comfortable and easy to reach the tram stop train station and the centre of Basel. I recommend it because you can travel all Switzerland and the hotel gave us a ticket for all the days we been there for Basel. The Swiss pass is a good choice to travel all Switzerland. Thanks for having us there!
This hotel is easily accessible as it's close to bus and tram stops (only 10-15 mins from the main SBB Basel station on Tram 11), and a 5-10 min walk to the city centre (Rathaus etc.) and a couple of minutes walk to the Rhine.
Room was decent, big shower and the staff were helpful.
Not too expensive for Switzerland.
The staff were very helpful. The hotel was in a good location for walking around the old town. We traveled for the Military Tattoo and it was a good location to walk to the castle. The only downfall was the parking, it was very expensive and no discount for staying in the hotel.
It was quiet, comfortable & the staff was friendly. The trade off for the quiet was a bit more walking in a hilly city. Though once we found an easier path back to the hotel it was fine. It’s a rather quick walk down to the old town so overall we were happy staying here.
Garage underneath the hotel was very useful. We loved the breakfast with many choices. Just like other places in Switzerland, Basel is an expensive city. So the price of this hotel was a real value for money. We'll choose this hotel again if we'll be back in Basel.
Staff was very kind and welcoming, offering us coffee or tea while we waited for our room (we were early). The breakfast was wonderful, one of the best we had during our 3 weeks in Switzerland. The room was spacious, and we very much enjoyed our stay.
We loved this hotel. Great location, design, comfort... what more could you want. We have stayed twice. Reasonable value for Switzerland, too. We cycled there on our own bikes and they let us keep them in the courtyard. Super helpful staff.
Breakfast was good but very expensive as is Switzerland
Hotel staff exceptional - giving me a kettle when I asked for boiling water and a glass when I bought some wine from their chiller
Was even able to get BBC 1&2 on room TV
Nice modern hotel, spacious room, great for a family with small kids. Convenient small kitchenette and nespresso machine. There was also a playroom on our floor.
Close to tram stop 14 which goes to city centre.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Fantastic staff in stunning spacious rooms with a gorgeous garden. I've never had a staff be so welcoming and generous, and the property is simply breathtakingly beautiful!
It was a very clean room, there was a playroom for kids, and the staff was very helpful.
There was a coupon from the hotel for the city transport for free, that was very nice and helpful.
The electric fireplace is really nice in the hall. The receptionist was kind. The hotel is located close to the city centre, yet in a quiet area. Free tea and coffee on the ground floor.
