Close to the theatre.
Key card didn’t work first on elevator and then on door to cone on after 9:00pm. Thankful another couple were able to open the door with theirs.
Staff eventually sent hearing aide charger 2 weeks after our stay, which we left behind.

Very clean, easy check in, great to be attached to Wests.
The food for dinner at Wests was fantastic, great voice and great value for money. Lovely staff there too.
Breakfast there could have been better, but not too bad.

I live in Sydney, just 160 km / 100 miles to the South, so not exactly a traveller. Newcastle is a nice place, less frantic than Sydney. It has great beaches, lots of places to dine out suiting all budgets, a very pleasant foreshore area.

Newie has come along in leaps and bounds since my childhood in the city. The downtown area has been completely rejuvenated and has a great, hipster vibe to it that was sorely lacking in the past.
The best beaches in Australia, the best rugby league and A-League team, and world-class wineries on your back step.

As we were stuck in Newcastle and in the hospital for the majority of the three weeks we were there, I couldn't get out quick enough....but in the time that I did have spare to look around, if you get away from the industrial areas, there are many areas around the beach in Newcastle that are beautiful. If you get out towards the Hunter Valley, Warner's Bay or Nelson Bay even better.

Newcastle is a busy port on one side and a beach holiday paradise on the other. There are several points of interest, such as the fort and the lighthouse. Good walking for the fit.
From the transport interchange, there is a useful, very regular, tram (bright red) out to points along the way to these sights. Tap on tap off with your credit card, if you don’t have the local Oyster Card. We found Rydges cafe and Queens Wharf good places to take refreshment whilst watching the ships passing to pick up coal. Newcastle is the largest coal exporting port in the world and watching them move with tugs in attendance is quite relaxing while you enjoy a drink.
The museum gives a good overview of Newcastle’s development, without being too exhaustive. Entrance is free. Give it a go, as it’s next to the Information Centre who are very helpful.
From Queens Wharf there is a short ferry across to Stockton, a small town with a good view of the harbour and shipping from its local park. Take your water and sun hat but toilets are a bit thin on the ground.
I would have liked more time to explore and take photographs. Enough said!

Newcastle was great for a visit and not just because family live there. Great vibe, many cafes and shops, really nice to stroll around the town and get a feel for the place. The river waterfront was really pleasant after a hot day.

Newcastle offers some great activities.
Newcastle offers some great activities. Great beaches, the recently renovated city baths, the Bogey Hole convict dug swimming pool on the cliff edge, Fort Scratchley, Nobbys
Head and lighthouse, Newcastle Memorial Walk, museums and galleries, fabulous cafes, National Parks and weekend markets. So much to do nearby.
This is a perfect location; easy to find, secure (gated) car park for guests and adjacent to a major club/entertainment venue for dining etc (without the noise!). Check-in was seamless and barely 20 seconds - unlike many high end hotels. They knew I was coming and after showing ID, I had the keys - all done!
Room was huge with the biggest daybed I've ever seen and a dual shower setup.
Excellent location close to everything that Newcastle has to offer.
The rooms, although small, are comfortable with very luxurious beds.
There is a guest laundry on level 2 with large washers and dryers that cost $3 each per load.
There is barista coffee available at reception.
The hotel has a 24 hour reception.
I only Stayed there for 1 night
I only used the facility for sleep as was out most of the day and night and the (budget hotel) met every need.
This aint 5 star stay so buyer beware
the location is great only 20 min drive to East Newcastle 1 easy main road.
Check in and Check out was quick and easy.
Very clean, spacious room with a very comfortable 4-poster bed. Bathroom also clean with a very good shower and clean towels provided.
The hotel is about 2 miles from Newcastle and there's a bus stop right outside with very regular bus service, although I walked it instead.
Staff welcoming and friendly.
I was travelling with 2 friends to see a concert in Newcastle. The welcome from staff when we booked in was warm & friendly. Other interactions with staff..restaurant, bar & cleaning staff was exceptional. The hotel's location opposite Newcastle Beach is perfect.
Old style pub with modern amenities, great pub downstairs, outdoor beer garden, great pub food and amazingly quiet rooms. Right in the heart of Newcastle, close to the water and other places of interest.
Great hotel right next to the Light Rail which services East Newcastle; with views of parks and river and in an Old Town area which is now tastefully renewed. Excellent restaurants and galleries.
Good, cheap option close to everything in Newcastle. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. Everyone was complaining about noise etc in the reviews but I had no trouble at all.
Staff were excellent, the room was clean and comfortable with good air conditioning. Covid protocols were in place and changes in service due to restrictions clearly communicated.
Reasonably priced, communication with the facility was good, but I am not a fan of the contactless check-in process. Beds were OK. Room contained everything needed.
We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel, but it was very central with lots of options for breakfast very close by. It's a perfect location for east end Newcastle.
Location and staff, positive and worth the appreciation.
Access from the hotel to almost everywhere in Newcastle. Public transport just across the street.
