Hotell Gamla Fängelset is a converted prison from 1861 located in central Umeå and offers free WiFi and breakfast. All rooms have windows and shared bathroom facilities. The hotel is really original: it was a prison once, turned into offering a more pleasant kind of hosting... The hotel is super clean, the staff extremely kind and helpful, the price is very honest for the offered service. I travelled with my three children and I was worried of the shared bathroom, but in the end it turned out to be an advantage since we could have a shower in parallel, saving a lot time!

Located in the heart of Umeå, Elite Hotel Mimer faces the Twin Towns Park and the main commercial pedestrian street. Guests have free WiFi along with free access to a sauna and fitness center. The breakfast was phenomenal! The staff was very accommodating, working with us to offer the best experience possible. They had a sauna that opened at 3pm, but if we wanted to use it a bit earlier, they offered to start it up a bit earlier. The location was perfect, right close to downtown, but also not right in the thick of it. Highly recommend!
