Located at the Paul Kruger Gate to the Kruger National Park, Kruger Gate Hotel is situated on the banks of the Sabie River. This hotel was nothing short of marvelous. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality, the rooms were superb and our meals were always delicious. The real highlight was the breathtaking view from the lookout pool. During our stay, we saw hippos, hyenas, and 3 leopards in the distance.

Very beautiful rooms, showers are nice, hot water at all times. 1 hour by car to the closest gate ( orpen gate ) from Kruger park. Food is very nice, you can also give special orders to chef Sibu, he will work out something :) Caroline is very helpful and was available at all times via WhatsApp. Definitely should try out the backyard bike ride, we could literally feed the giraffes and warthogs there, way closer than in Kruger park.

The staff and Jacques were very welcoming and helpful. The location is lovely and the design and setting of the Lodge is wonderful. We have always wanted to visit the northernmost part of the Kruger to see how it compares to the rest of the park. The Outpost is situated on a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River and the view from our room was breath-taking. The contemporary open plan rooms have retractable remote-controlled blinds, that offer uninterrupted views of the river when open. It was indeed a once-in-a-lifetime experience to sleep with no walls between you and the wilderness. On the second night, we were treated to elephants trumpeting just outside our room! The lodge is situated in a private concession. The staff mainly consists of members of the Makuleke tribe. We were treated like royalty and no effort was spared to make our stay a memorable one. It is evident that the staff are extremely well trained, but also that they love what they do. Our room was immaculately clean, the food was 5-star and wherever we went, we were greeted with friendly smiles. The fauna, flora and vistas in this part of the Kruger is by far the most impressive of the whole park. We were fortunate enough to visit both the Lanner Gorge and the Fever Forest on game drives. This is not the area of the Kruger you should go to if you want to see the big five, as you probably won’t, but that said, there is still a decent amount of wildlife to see. We saw elephant, zebra, nyala, impala, baboons, kudu and hippo.

The property is stunning, the staff the best. The service goes above and beyond. The game drives give you the most meaningful experience in the bush. You may see the big 5 or you may not but it doesn’t matter as you get to live the bush and understand its delicate and complex ecosystem. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
