The property is beautiful. The staff was the best that we've ever experienced - the most personalised service that we've received at a hotel / resort. We had booked an experience with their private game reserve drive. Singazi, the chef, went out of his way to arrange Halal meat for us for the delicious "bush dinner" at the end of the Drive. We got to see Giraffes, Lions, Springbucks, Wildebeests, etc. Breakfast was amazing too, with Singazi as the chef! Other staff members including Shireen, Brighton and Luke were very helpful. We checked-in very late at 8.30pm, and Shireen made the checking-in process super smooth and even arranged snacks/dinner for us within minutes of our arrival.
The room was fantastic, very modern, and far better than what you would expect in a place like this surrounded by nature. Beds were comfy.

Valley Bushveld Country Lodge serves authentic South African cuisine. During cold winter evenings, guests can enjoy a drink in the lounge with a huge fireplace.
The room was very good lodge accommodation. Position at top of a valley with nice garden and a view of the veld and game on opposite side of valley was great. Guests can take a walk around the surrounding farm and there is a very good chance of seeing Zebra, many Giraffe, Impala, Black Impala and several other big animals, I couldn't name. When we drove from lodge to main gate we came very close to approx 10 giraffe and several zebra - without even trying.
Another real highlight of the stay was the dinners!! Vanessa and her daughter, Heinri, do a truly outstanding job - its like a top restaurant but only a few diners each night.
The lodge is well positioned for a visit to Addo Elephant park - which is another great trip.

The Hlosi game lodge and the reserve were one of our highlights of our SA trips. We had a lovely very spacious house and deck with 2 bathrooms with in- and outside showers. Restaurant and deck with view to the waterhole with 2 hippos was amazing. All game drives were breathtaking and “successful”. We saw all big five (replacing the leopard by cheetahs) plus giraffes, zebras, kudus, etc. very close. It was our best location to spot many animals.
Beautifully appointed lodges in a wonderful setting. Food and drink sensibly priced and staff really lovely.
Food was absolutely wonderful. Staff were amazing - friendly, efficient and professional. Having spent countless days in the South African bush, this was a step above it all. To have a game ranger like Martin conducting our twice daily drives was the “cherry on the top”. His lovely attitude, enthusiasm and incredible knowledge makes the Safari Lodge a definite return location.
- Great view from the lodge - Renovated rooms are nice - Nice and helpful staff - Safari Tour
A lovely contemporary main lodge restaurant/lounge with individual sleeping lodges scattered in the hillside. Walk with elephants and the botany/bush walk a must! Delicious food, friendly helpful staff and a nice pool area to relax by or have a dip. 15km of unmade up road but don’t be put off , take it slowly it’s worth the trip!
Service was amazing. Can recommend to book a morning drive to feed the giraffes! The reserve and the lodges are beautiful. Dinner and breakfast was also really good.
Best lodge! So welcoming and friendly! Our room was a dream, with lots of nice African destsils. Dinner and breakfast were delicious! But most incredible are the giraffes! A safari with Kerneels is simply the best… you learn how to approach the giraffes etc. his enthusiasm after 17 years of being with giraffes is amazing and contagious. We want to come back!
Everything, amazing lodge, rooms. The food was fantastic, the staff were wonderful, the safari was wow !! I saw all the animals. Had to pinch myself....they made me a beautiful cake for my birthday 🎂 Highly recommended 👌
The lodges are set in a great location and all the staff were friendly and provided excellent service. The 2 safari drives per day were great with Seamus, our engaging and knowledgeable guide. Facilities and food and drink (free bar) were good. Lodges were clean and comfortable.
2nd time we’ve stayed there and just as good as the first. This is a great and far more cost effective way of safariing in Amkala Nature Reserve. The house and lodge are furnished in an old Dutch farm style which is lovel and the gardens/ pool make it unique in the area. Far cheaper than the lodges in the park and only across the road so the safaris are exactly the same!
