Wonderful.
Wonderful. Very impressed by how the city has integrated modernity into the old castle without making it over commercial, with a lot of thought for access. Lovely cafe. Views are great, I love a funicular and for those who require it, there is the electric train which will also bypass the steps from the funicular exit into the castle

The castle was taken up by the old Funicular or otherwise you can take a long walk up. A truly beautiful view from the top and there is like temporary exhibitions and cafe and castle history in which we didn't see. Take approx up to 2 hour for the journey up.

Definitely worth a walk up the hill to the castle. Lots to see for free without paying an entrance fee to see a few exhibitions. Fantastic views from up here as well. Also a very nice rest area on the grass in the moat with free magazines provided to sit and chill for a while.

It's free to enter and you could see quite a bit but they don't make this clear. If you pay to enter you will only be granted additional entrance to the tower, 2 small museums (one about castles in Slovenia - not even this castle and one about Slovenian history- it's so verbose you could never read it all). I wish we hadn't paid and had just walked around the free parts. Also even if you pay 10€ each you still have to pay to use the toilet. Didn't learn anything and we usually adore museums.

Obviously a fantastic historical place to visit but not if one has mobility issues. Also the sites for the audio guides are very hard to see as they are often the same colours as the stonework and do not appear to be in sequence. We were not the only folk lookin around for them at some levels. Tricky to gain full benefit so a bit of a waste of time ( & money) N

there isn't much to see or learn at this castle. it is used for commercial events and art exhibits which is super. but for tourists there isn't much to see in terms of castle interiors or it's historical part of it.
