Probably the most beautiful square in the world!
Probably the most beautiful square in the world! Very expensive to get coffee etc on the square itself be prepared to pay upward of 15 euro for a beverage and 25 euro for a cocktail in some cafes, but plenty of places cheaper nearby. I’d recommend going during carnival season as when everyone is wandering around in their costumes it’s like going back in time. The architecture is stunning. You can go inside the basilica and doges palace etc, admission fee approximately €15 per entry and the queues can be long so if it’s something you’re interested in perhaps pre book online to get a better deal and skip the line. The architecture is stunning with so many details everywhere you look but also the line of Murano glass chandeliers looks fab at night.

Visit in the evenings, after the cruise-boat tourists have departed and the pigeons have flown to roost, and see it as it truly is. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it should be avoided. Just don't go during the most crowded times, and see for yourself why it became popular in the first place

Many shops and few restaurants on the walkway around St Marco. They are super expensive. On the side street are shops that are cheaper. You can visit the Clock tower for Euro 10. There is a lift to take you atop. Great views from above. No need to buy advance tickets on line which charge you double the entry cost. The Basilica entrance costs Euro 3 and the cost to the rooftop and museum costs Euro 7. Worth a visit. On the side by the waterfront is the entrance to the Dogi palace. Has impressive paintings and rooms. Entrance is Eur 30. Seniors over 65 pay at half price. Well worth a visit.

wonderful all around - but if you sit down, be prepared to pay insane prices (easily double the usual for drinks etc.). Although the ambience (and the life music) in many places is worth it if you don't mind the extra dollar

Best to book one of the museum or church passes in advance to avoid the queues which can be very long. The piazza is always VERY busy but, with a short walk, you can easily escape to much quieter locations for a relaxing spritz or coffee.

I had a night I will never forget at Piazza San Marco.
I had a night I will never forget at Piazza San Marco. It was a beautiful November night, the sky was indigo blue, the weather was perfect, the moon was full, and small helicopter like whirling toys were being shot from rubber band sling shots into the night sky enhancing the magic of this evening. There was a band playing the most beautiful Italian music under an awning. Here I had a moment of amazement. The sights, the atmosphere, the music, I WAS Here ! Finally, I made it to Italy. And the music I had imagined, the Italian music of my ancestors, was floating through the air, into the beautiful blue nights sky. I was an Italian American in Italy, finally, and somehow, I felt at home. I smiled and said to myself out loud, this is amazing! I turned to my 21-year-old son and said, "You have to dance with me". A wide-eyed expression came over his face as he quickly said, NO." He (and I) aren't the Dancy type. I laughed out loud, and said, "oh yes you are". I looked to my right and there were two women dancing together. I said, 'look, those ladies are dancing"! Then I told him how much I loved to dance with my Dad. He loved to dance with his daughters, all four of them. My mother would always sit one out to let my dad two step. three step across the dance floor. I said to my son , " one day you are going to have a girlfriend, then a wife, and maybe (hopefully) a daughter, and I want you to be the husband and dad who dances with his girls, because it is a beautiful feeling for a girl to dance with her Daddy. Then we danced. I showed him the two step, three step I remembered learning from my dad. It was a moment. The music was real. And I was dancing in Venice with my favorite guy- my son. Check that one off my bucket list. Amazing.

Excellent location, next to Ca' Rezzonico Vaporetto (Water bus) station.
A traditional Venetian style classic hotel with terrace.
Most of the sightseeing places are walking distance (It takes 15 to 20 minutes to Piazza San Marco on foot).
Easy access from / to the airport, about 1 hour by Alilaguna (Water bus).
Excellent location, only a few steps from Piazza San Marco. Very spacious apartment. The apartment was a bit cold when we got there but the AC worked pretty well to heat it up.
The location is brilliant. Literally 5 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco but it is in a quiet street The staff were friendly and helpful. We booked an airport transfer via the hotel and it was very good. Breakfast was also good.
Two of us stayed in this beautiful apartment just around the corner from Piazza San Marco, it was a great base for exploring Venice.
Luca and Alessandra are amazing hosts and really thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. They put together a guide which helped us to find some nice restaurants.
The large overhead shower was just what we needed after long days walking and the bed (and sofa) were so, so comfy.
Great apartment. There is a thermostat and it's warm. Wonderful, friendly host. There were no problems. Located near Piazza San Marco, close to Vapareto. I liked everything very much. Cotton bed linen. Purely. There is a kettle, washing machine, dishwasher, all utensils. Several towels for each. 2 keys per family. Quiet courtyard and veranda, you can hear the birds singing. Antique, interesting floor. Apartment in the spirit of Venice.
Location, location, location! Literally 5 mins away from Piazza San Marco. The apartment is in a busy area yet, no outside noise can be heard within. Stefano, the host gave us a lovely warm welcome. The apartment was spotless and had everything we could possibly need.
We absolutely loved every single details of this place. The location was perfect. 10 minutes away from Piazza San Marco. A Coop supermarket very close to the apartment. The cleanliness was perfect. The apartment has 2 bathrooms and a really large space for a family of up to 6 people. Carlo, the owner was available for all our requests. A place to recommend for a weekend, but also for longer periods.
We can't wait to go back.
The location was just perfect! The hotel is really close to Rialto bridge and piazza san Marco. The staff was so polite! I think I will come back one day.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and just a three minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Breakfast is good and staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Wonderful apartments, which in reality are even better than in the photo, kind and helpful owner, excellent location (15 min quiet walk along the embankment and you are in Piazza San Marco). We had a wonderful time in Venice, thank you for everything, Martino!
