Great eating out, some a little overpriced however. Monday is a very quiet night for eating out! For a good unpretentious meal try Cobb and Co. The Vine has a vast range of goodies. The Indian restaurants are all good.

1-2 days maximum is more than enough. Food their is great and beautiful coffee, but do keep in mind everything is expensive as it is a tourist spot. Otherwise great location to visit. I visited Huka falls and Wairakei terrace hot pools which was an amazing experience.AkashNew Zealand - 10Scored 10

It had plenty of space for the 2 of us but may have been cramped for a family of 4, but I guess that applies to most motels. Everything was clean and tidy and the room facilities were more than enough for our 3 day stay. Although we were about 2.5km from the centre of Taupo we were only about 100m from the lake shore and the walk into Taupo could be easily made using the walkway along the lake shore. Loved the thermal pool at the Motor Lodge, especially as we were staying in Winter so it was quite cold outside but the pool definitely warmed us up. Very clean rooms and you can see the decor has been updated/refreshed recently. The rooms were also very warm due to thermal under floor heating. Would absolutely stay here again especially with the lake front views that the motel offers.AnnaAustralia

Cosy and quiet place close to the town of Taupo (20 min by car) and very close to the lake itself (10 min walk). Hosts are a sweet couple, very well mannered and focused on being helpful without annoyances. Friendly chat was just accompaning a tremendous breakfast and started our day with a smile. The room is on the ground floor, only have to open the patio door, you can step out to the lakeside. It has a great view at the sunset. The room service was good, both staff who delivered the meal were very polite and the service from the kitchen was very quick. The foods were very good.

Lovely big kitchen and dining area, and nice smaller area to chill out in. There's a board with free/cheap suggestions of what to do in Taupo. Lovely garden with hammocks, and a very cute hostel dog.
