Very quiet location, essentially in the heart of Paihia but not busy at all. Clientele of all ages not just young backpackers. Wooden bunk beds meant no squeaking beds when moving. 12pm check-in rather than usual 3pm

Kids loved the heated pool and spa, especially in May. Conveniently located close to amenities and beach. Nice big space with plenty of beds. We stayed in the 2-storey unit above pool, 2 adults, 2 children plus a baby.

Great to take the hole in the rock boat trip. Very convenient to catch the boat and hope over to Russell for a day trip. Lovely meal and walk at the wineyard in Russell. Lovely time to visit Pahia when it is sunny. Beautiful to spend 4 to 7 days chilling with the perfect sunset and sunrise. The indian restaurant along the beach at pahia is very authentic. Highly recommend pahia roadtrip.

Paihia is a very good place to stay if you want to explore...
Paihia is a very good place to stay if you want to explore Northland. If you are driving, you can go on your own to the tip of the North Island in about 3 hours. You can drive over to the Kauri Forest on the west side in about 1.5 hours. You can get tours out of Paihia for the Bay of Islands, the Ninety Mile Beach/Cape Reinga, Waitangi Treaty Grounds (you can walk there, about 3 km), rent kayaks or paddle boards, get fishing charters, take a ferry to Russell (or drive there). We spent 5 nights there and could have stayed a few more days and done even more.

Paihia is such a beautiful part of New Zealand!
Paihia is such a beautiful part of New Zealand! As the gateway to the Bay of Islands, there is so much to see and do here. There are some incredible restaurants to eat at and my husband highly recommends the Waitangi Golf Club just 5 minutes from Paihia. Definitely add the Bay of Islands to your list of places to visit in the North Island of NZ!

Great town with friendly locals.
Great town with friendly locals. All hospitality options covered, with a bar on a jetty that is very pleasant but always seemed short staffed. Easy walking town and a jetty to Russell with happy staff to greet you.
Visited Pompallier House in Russell which is well worth the visit and again met with lovely friendly greeting and service.

Walking distance to everything you need.
Walking distance to everything you need. Swimming pool is lovely ,but don't forget to bring beach towels. No fresh towel service ,but has washing machine. The two bedrooms are lovely and bonus 2 bathrooms. Great place to stay, will stay again.
Really had a fabulous stay for a week. We were made welcome from the start. Anything we needed was supplied by just asking Winnie the owner of the motel. The room was spacious and very clean, everything we needed supplied in the kitchen area. Tea and coffee topped up daily and fresh milk in fridge. The hotel was perfectly situated a little walk from Paihia centre so very quiet and a beautiful walk along the seafront into town. We loved our stay and would definitely return if we had the opportunity. Didn’t want to leave.
Our stay at Bay of Islands Beachhouses was wonderful and a real highlight of our New Zealand holiday. We were met by owner Theo on our arrival and shown around. The views out over the beach and bay were spectacular and the apartment itself was immaculate. From the apartment we could soak up the views, enjoy the quiet beach below or take a short 10 minute walk around the shore to the restaurants and facilities in the main town of Paihia. We couldn't have asked for more and only regret that we didn't stay longer.
Located in the heart of Paihia across the street from the beach, Ala Moana Motel is a fantastic place for travellers to stay in especially if they are travelling in a group. The staff were very friendly and were helpful in getting us settled in, as well as recommending us activities to do in the Bay of Islands. Despite it being our fourth visit, we had a wonderful time and this was enhanced by the accommodation.
The bed was probably the comfiest I've ever slept on in a hotel and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. It's across the bridge from the main 'centre' of Paihia, so it's either a couple of minutes drive or a half an hour flat walk. Pool area is lovely, with shade umbrellas and loungers dotted around for free, but a bit small and cramped once you get a few families in there.
The location was great. Nice Bar/Restaurant next door and lots more excellent options for food and drinks in the nearby town centre of Paihia. Also very close to the ferry to Russell and all kinds of adventure rides.
Our host John was very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Our room was nice with Bay of Island views.
Very friendly attentive staff. We ate one evening in the restaurant, we had moules with bread which was a starter and a side of chips. It was excellent. We also used the outdoor pool which was very pleasant. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the main waterfront, there is a beautiful quiet seafront close by
Its a beauty 🤗 here at the #CliffEdgeLodge would definitely recommend you go there and get some relaxation with a awesome view.
Very tidy, fabulous old antique interior.
Not far from Opua ferry to Russell and Paihia.
Scrumptious breeky.
Loved it ALL 🤗😊
Thank you Peter
The breakfast was excellent. The location is great. We cook in the motel. We can use washing machine and dryer too. Trevor is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed staying at Paihia Star Hotel. Will definitely come back again.
Excellent location in Paihia. Close to restaurants and beaches. We liked the concept with separate cabins. Ours had seaview and a nice little veranda.
Friendly landlady and convenient access to washing machine and dryer.
The property was close to town, and the rooms were tidy, Clean and private, although we were a couple we enjoyed the family feel that the hotel had, been so close to town meant we were
able to walk to places and explore.
Good location not on the busy main strip of Paihia but an easy walk to the main shopping area. Nice pool to enjoy a dip on a hot day. All hotel facilities well maintained. Comfortable room. Plenty of parking on site.
Very clean and quiet Motel that is located right by the water and also 5 minutes walk from ferry terminal and restaurants. Very friendly staff and owners. Definitely recommend staying at Breakwater Motel Paihia
A spacious, modern, clean, well equipped unit, just steps away from the Paihia Wharf, restaurants, and the main street. The unit is like new with everything we needed and the property is well maintained.
The location of the hotel is great, close to the beach and other amentities. Nice to have room to move in a two bedroom and upstairs kitchen and lounge area. Shower pressure was good!
We were more than happy with our experience at Marlin hotel. They were very welcoming and accommodating. The room was very clean, tidy and spacious. Walking distance into town.
