Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a nice variety. We loved having a cocktail on our balcony looking at the beautiful views. Recommend dinner at the pub.

Beautiful location with good public transport links.
Beautiful location with good public transport links. Touristy obviously with the Flam railway at its core including rail museum and clothing outlets. As a base for car touring you face long tunnels going north (25km) and south (5km) so not one for tunnel phobes. Viking themed restaurant and pubs kitschy but food and beer ok.

Flåm is one of the most stunning places I have ever visited.
Flåm is one of the most stunning places I have ever visited. Just postcard perfect everywhere you look.
The first night we had dinner at the Ægir Bryggeripub (Gulinbusti and the Viking Planke). It was probably one of the best meals we have ever had and I would highly recommend booking a dinner at this place, you will not regret it. After dinner, we sat downstairs around the open fire on sheepskin rugs and had a few drinks. The place has a lovely authentic atmosphere and it's a really cosy pub.
We got up early the next morning and got coffee and pastries at the bakery. We also bought some chicken sandwiches for lunch as we were planning a hike.
We took the mountain train (Flamsbana) to Myrdal and then back to a lower stop (Berekvarm)and hiked back to Flåm from here, as there was too much snow at the top to hike from Myrdal.
The hike was wonderful and it was some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.
We stopped at Drøymehytta (a small hut just off the trail) with a perfect view of Rjoandefossen, cascading over the side of the mountain. We decided this was a perfect spot for lunch and the chicken sandwich we had bought earlier that morning were delicious.
It was an honour to visit Flåm and I hope to go there again at some point in summer when we can rent bikes and cycle down from Myrdal back to Flåm.
If you have means of transport then the Stegastien viewpoint, and Aurlandsvangen, just down the Fjord from Flåm are also definitely worth a visit.

Flam was an amazing location.
Flam was an amazing location. Even though is is set up for mainly tourists to transfer through on their way from Oslo to Bergen , it was a quaint little area with amazing views and hospitality. We were there before the tourist season started , so no cruise ships yet so it felt like we have the place all to ourselves.

We visited in mid March and the views of the snow covered hills was magical. It was very quiet in town as there were no cruise ships in port.
The Flamsbana railway trip was excellent, amazingly scenic and well worth the trip from Australia.
We opted to take the bus to Voss rather than the fjord cruise to Gudvangen due to the weather. The VY bus (VY450) arrived on time and was clean and comfortable. The scenery was lovely - lots of snow and small towns we'd love to come back to.

Flåm was the highlight of Norway for my husband and our 20 and 17yo daughters. It was one of the most beautiful places they have ever seen with their own eyes. Now they just want to go back when it is less cold!
If you are doing the Bergensbana don't go through straight through. Visit Flåm!

Pristine, quiet and very pretty town.
Pristine, quiet and very pretty town. We travelled in January, it was very peaceful. The Fjord cruise was fabulous.
We travelled on the Flam train both ways as in winter the cruise between Flam and Bergen does not run. It’s a definite on my list to travel to. We will be back in summer to see the changes. The Flam Marina has great accommodation with amazing views of the Fjord. Very easy to walk around this little village. With a number of cafes/restaurants to eat at. We had dinner at the Flam Marina Restaurant twice as the food was very good and reasonably priced for Norway.
Our stay was absolutely perfect. The cabin is comfortable, spacious, and well-decorated, and the surrounding area is simply breathtaking. The host was so hospitable and offered to drive us to the railway station when we left. We appreciated being a bit further from the port of Flåm - it felt like we were tucked away in nature. Making the short drive, short train ride, or 30-45-minute walk to the port is easy and beautiful!
Quiet location and the local piglets that came to say hello. But little else because the quality of the property is so vastly below the scandalous price being charged (gouging during peak holiday period when there is little to no choice if you have to stay in Flåm). Perhaps that is supply and demand but we found later that day that rooms opened up in the best hotel in town for way less than this simple accommodation.
We loved our little cabin and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. It was so nice to have access to laundry facilities because we had been on the road for awhile and needed to wash our clothes. The location was terrific, being close to the train station for the Flamsbana. Access to free parking was one of the reasons we chose Flam cabins. We enjoyed having pizza from the pizza food truck one night!
Friendly staff with great customer service. Room was clean, functional, and well suited to our overnight stay in Flam. I recommend this Hostel when travelling on the tour between Oslo and Bergen!
We didn't mind paying a little extra for the towels, but for convenience, perhaps these should be provided with the bed linen (which was included in the price).
Fantastic location, friendly host and great facilities. There was proper heating in the place unlike many of the hotels that I've stayed during winter here in Norway. Spacious and roomy, and very well done up. Location is just beside Flam Bakery, right in front of the Fjord Cruise and also just a 1 min walk from the Flam Railway.
The property has a spacious living area and kitchen with four small bedrooms. It is a short walk from the downtown portion of Flam. I walked home after our buffet dinner at Fretheim Hotel. We were there in mid-May, and the wild flowers covered the back yard adding to the lovely view of the creek from our bedroom window.
Beautiful and historic building. Delicious food (breakfast and dinner), helpful staff, and the location is right next to the Flam Railway. We’re so glad we spent the night here during our Norway in a Nutshell trip. My sister and I had a wonderful time. There’s a beautiful atrium with view of mountains and fjords.
Beautiful view of Fjord area and Flåm with included parking and short walk to main town area. Located right on a farm it's a nice rustic change of pace. The rooms are tidy and clean, kitchen and bathroom also very good. When staff are working at the main desk it's very easy to get questions answered.
Having the balcony to sit on and enjoy this awesome view was such a joy. The staff were friendly and efficient. Our one bedroom unit was nicely decorated and had everything we needed. I can highly recommend this hotel and I also highly recommend Flam - it was one of our favorite places in Norway.
Nice location on the harbour just a few hundred metres from Flam centre. Dining room had great view where they serve breakfast and dinner.
We were able to wash clothes at the hotel down the road for free. The 3 course dinner menu was delicious both nights we stayed.
Location in Flam valley. Easy access to hiking trail, short drive to Flambana and ferry. Charming and cozy upstairs bedroom. Exciting to use the ladder. (!) Functional kitchen. Comfortable living room. Well supplied kitchen. Lots of games and puzzles to engage us.
Lovely host and perfect location where time just easily passes by just listening to the waterfalls and gazing at the wonderful views from the cottage front.
Thank you for kicking off a great start to our Norway road trip!
Park, lots of trees, complete shared kitchen and bathroom. I thought I had lost my passport and they made their best to find it once I checked out (fortunately I found it in another hotel)
Nice and spacious apartment for a family. Older kids would enjoy the lofts. Lovely view of the valley. If you have a car, then the attractions in Flåm are a short 5 minute drive downhill.
