Academic and Artistic Greatness
An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.
Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multi-levelled arches and vaulted wooden ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, porticoed streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, boasting the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

Truly beautiful city full of history. the saying "Venice is beautiful and Padua is its sister" is true. To truly appreciate the beauty of the city I recommend the periods between April and May and never on weekends.

Beautiful city with plenty of culture and architectural landmarks. I would recommend it for anyone coming to Venice for its distance and relative affordability in comparison with the most tourist city of Veneto.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas.
The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

Padua is a really handy and lovely place to stay in between Verona and Venice, so you can pay slighlty less for accomodation there and then take day trips to Verona (1 hr train ride away) or Venice (45 minutes away).
The food was, on average, much better and cheaper in padua than Venice.

We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm.
We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm. We found lots and lots of places that served sandwiches and coffee/beer/wine but, in contrast to Udine, we had a hard time finding restaurants with real food. I would not go back.
Albergo Verdi is an excellent option if you happen to visit Padova. Located in the very centre of the old town, from there you can reach all main monuments on foot. The room is fine, I asked for a quiet one and it was indeed quiet, which is important to me. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. The hotel develop on several floors in an historical building, which means that there the lobby and other public spaces are relatively small, but that is fine.
The property was located in Padova 500 meters from the train station. The property had everything we needed and more for our 5 day stay. It was very modern. And very good condition. This is another property which as set the bar to a high standard. As we travel around Italy.
Camille. Was a very friendly host. And asked us after a couple of days if we were all okay and the apartment to our satisfaction and it was a big yes to both.
Hotel Paramount is a lovely hotel l, in a nice neighborhood about a 15 minute walk from the main piazza, Piazza dei Signori. Our room was comfortable, modern, with a good sized bathroom and shower and fluffy towels. The bed was large and comfortable. The breakfast was ample, with cereals, ham and cheese, yogurt, pastries (including some vegan). Cappuccinos were available. Wonderful hotel. We enjoyed our stay.
Perfect location near all the main attractions. Host spoke excellent English and was very easy to communicate with. He gave us an excellent recommendation for a restaurant - Enoteca dei Tadi. Apartment was super clean and looks to have been fully refurbished in the last few months or so. Bed was comfortable. Quiet. One of nicest places we stayed at during our trip to Italy.
Location is amazing! 5 minutes of the highway and 15 minutes to Padova center with the bus. The bus stop is in front of the hotel. Hotel is very nice, feels like it is adapting/renovating slowly. Big parking. I'm really having difficult time finding hotels to my liking in Italy and this was a good find.
The B&B Loft Padova is a very charming hotel just 3 min away from Padova central station. The Hosts were very kind and gave us some great tips for good places to visit in Padova. Our room was very clean and we loved the cheerful colours of the interior. We would highly recommend this great B&B.
An amazing room for a short stay in Padova. The room was clean and had a modern style. The heater worked, so we didn't freeze in this cold autumn. Near the hotel, we found some cafes with delicious food. Additionally, just a few steps from the hotel are situated Padova's main attractions.
Excellant location, near to the train station and to all important sights. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they offered a very good breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we would definitely use it again if we travel to Padova.
The room was larg and, bed very comfortable. 5 min drive to central Padova. Free parking all around the hotel and underground. We were also able to use the parking lot at their other hotel, which is further in the center, Best Western Plus Galileo for free.
Breakfast was good. The hotel is quite large business with many rooms and floors and the dining room was large.
The location is perfect if you plan to visit Basilica of St. Anthony.
Make sure you book a parking spot with the hotel if you drive by car.
- Everything perfect!
- Its absolutely ok if you want to go to Padova by car, you have only a 5-10 minute ride to the center
- very nice room and bathroom size
- Classic Italian Hotel near the road:)
- Very good noise sealing windows!
This might be a 3-star hotel, but service was 5-stars. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Spoke perfect English, helped us with our train tickets and attractions. Room was also very generously sized.
I liked the hotel - very nicely located, good (particularly for Italy) breakfast, and authentic design: nice pictures on the walls, some statues. The room was clean, the amenities were nice,
Well situated. Clean and quiet. Plenty of paid parking space in front of the hotel. Parking free from 8pm to 8am. Hotel could reserve some spot for the actual cost for customer convenience.
Nice hotel, located in the center of Padova, right near the St. Antonio Basilica.
Polite and friendly staff, comfortable room.
Good breakfast, both continental and italian
Located across from the train station, 1/2 hour train ride to Venice. Newly renovated hotel, great Italian-English speaking manager Alex who was very efficient and helpful!
