Waterfront location, we booked a room with a balcony, on request staff supplied a bottle of wine so we could sit out and watch the sun go down over the lake. A nice hotel at a reasonable price. Pleasant staff.

A nice medieval small town with much to see and with a very nice, mostly car free town centre. The castle with a local museum, the churches, the ruins of the Roman predecessor town, the lakeside area and harbour are all worth a visit. Extending on both sides of the central sqare, the main street is a pedestrian zone with lots of shops and restaurants. There was even a Ferris wheel at the harbour!
There are public buses (Contral) connecting to Viterbo, Montefiascone and a number of smaller towns, and an early morning connection (Busitalia) to Orvieto. All at bargain prices, tickets can be bought at the kiosk in the town center. Even if it runs early, the bus trip to Orvieto is highly recommendable! It starts from the main square, the others from the bus stop near the post office. Only the connection to Bagnoregio, operated by a local bus contractor, did not work out as the internet schedule was wrong.
There are a number of walking paths in the vicinity - a well marked pilgrim route to Rome goes through Bolsena. We also walked a bit along the lake shore in southern direction; in northern direction, the path ends at the end of the town area.
Boat tours on the Lago di Bolsena are theoretically possible, but there seems to be no organized schedule. In summer, bathing in the lake at the beach should be nice, but at end of April, it was a bit too cold.

an ancient and intersting small typically Italian town.
an ancient and intersting small typically Italian town. Excellent places to eat and drink, friendly people and, of course, a beautiful lake. This is a place to visit for sure. Stay somewhere between 3 and 6 nights to get a proper flavour of the place.Take a walk to the top of the town (steep but worth it) and reward yourself with a glass of wine when you get to the top at one of the many excellent wine bar/delis.
Two restaurants stand out. La Francigena (for its pizza and traditional ham hock called Stinco) and La Tavernetta for its pizza and pasta with fish from the lake. They are inexpensive for the quality of food.
Drive around the lake to see the antique towns of Montefiascone and Capo de Monte. Have a walk along he promenade at Marta. Continue your circuit and have lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants near the ad hoc marina ten minutes west of Bolsena. Its a lovely way to spend a day. At Bolsena there are a number of lakeside bars and restaurants all of which are good value and a great place to unwind. The lake is very safe to swim in. It is very shallow for some distance from shore so is great for children and weak swimmers like me. Very refreshing on a hot day!!

A very charming small italian city with very attractive view of the lake at the sunset. Food in the restaurants is good and value for money is also goo there. The evening life at the square near the lake is live with several nice bars and the seatings really close to the lake so that you can even wash your feet there. Another remarkable cisty Orvietto is also in the short driving distance.

Bolsena is a lakeside small town.
Bolsena is a lakeside small town. We stopped there to relax in mid-October in route to Rome. In the summer I am certain it is bustling with vacationers but there is really nothing to do if you are not boating. The one historic site, the Rocca Fortress, was closed. Dinner in a lakeside restaurant had a lovely sunset view but the food was average.

Lovely old town with great restaurants and quirky shops.
Lovely old town with great restaurants and quirky shops. Nice promenade by the lake. Worth taking a trip round the lake by car and visit to Bagnioreggio a nearby local ancient town accessible only on foot via a bridge over a ravine.

It's one of our favourite towns in Italy.
It's one of our favourite towns in Italy. A tranquil and beautiful place, just perfect. It has an old town centre, a sparkling blue lake with beaches, lots of nice streets to just walk and the most hydrangeas I have ever seen in a single place. Countless facilities to have a good pizza or ice cream let alone beer at the beach.
We were welcomed by friendly staff. The room we booked for 3 persons is a spatious room suitable for a family with two kids. The room is very clean. The location of this hotel is amazing. It is located right in front of lake Bolsena. You can relax in the garden of the hotel and within a few steps you can take a dive into the lake, or in the swimming pool of the hotel. You can have lunch/dinner at this hotel, but also around Bolsena there are many good places to have dinner as well.
A wonderful fairytale place managed by Mr.Gianfranco and Mrs. Anna with a stunning view to Bolsena lake. Villa itself (we stayed at Levante appartment) is majestic and makes all guests, especially, little ones feel like home because all you can need at your own home is available at this place. Excellent parking plots surrounded by gorgeous garden. Great for a precious time with family.
this hotel is the cutest we stayed for our 3 weeks honeymoon trip in Toscana/ Umbria.
unfortunately we had a flowed in the shower on the first evening, however, our host were more than helpful and reactive.
the rooms have been recently renovated with a charming taste.
the family who runs the business is absolutely delightful and full of good advices.
Beautiful location showcasing what Lake Bolsena has to offer. We had room 305, a corner room with a wonderful view of the lake and environs.
Traditional room but classy.
Parking onsite was very welcome after a 2300km two week road trip through small, narrow-streeted villages..
The town itself is quite interesting and easy to explore on foot.
The air conditioning was very poor and not able to cope with the outside temperature resulting in very poor sleep. The hotel also turned off the air condition when you were not in our room. The view from the room was awful looking at ducting and a tin roof we tried to move but the cost was 55 euros a day so we stayed put.
This hotel was the perfect place to relax. The hosts were so sweet and greeted us with a cappuccino at check in and gave lots of great restaurant recommendations. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool and the property, with amazing views looking over Lake Bolsena, were the perfect place to unwind.
Great and beautiful town, very good hotel. Literally by the lake. Good breakfast, with variety and fresh coffee. Clean rooms, with all the facilities.
One big clean pool. The staff were very nice and helpful.
Very good location, with good restaurants and bars in walking distance.
We loved our stay.
This hotel was very easy to find and a lovely quiet location. The room was comfortable and had a huge balcony with plenty of seating. Bathroom was great with plenty of room and lovely fluffy towels. Bolsena is a magical place and we had an amazing time there. Would definitely recommend.
Hotel Patani is in a great location, on the edge of the historic centre and a very short walk from the waterfront. Our room had a large balcony which was a lovely place to enjoy a meal and relax, with a great view of the old town up the hill..
This hotel has an excellent position on the lake shore. The hotel was spruce and clean and professionally run. It has nice views of lake from some rooms. A nice well kept 3 star hotel which has its own restaurant.
The staff were wonderful! The location was perfect - a short walk to the lake and the old town. The restaurant was very good and the breakfast was perfect.
