We had no idea where to stay after flying in from Finland. We were heading to Cornwall and we chose a destination 2-21/2 hours from Heathrow and just put a pin on the map. This is what came up and boy we were happy with our luck.
The room although small and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was powerful and warm.
The dinner and the breakfast were both superb and they kept asking if we wanted anything else. No need as it was more than enough. We took a walk around the village in the morning and this was a really nice surprise as it was a lovely little charming village. Exceeded our expectations by far. We would highly recommend. 👍👍👍

Blandford Forum is a small country town with plenty of character. There are lovely walks by the river, some very charming pubs and places to eat. The main Hotel the Crown has Live music and a terrace to enjoy a drink. The town has interesting quotes carved into the pavement and some attractive historical buildings as well as a market on Thursday and Saturday, and lots of little interesting boutique shops.
If you are looking for old-fashioned charm and a quiet retreat with occasional entertainment, this is the perfect place for you

Blandford Forum town centre is needing a bit of TLC like many English towns now.
Too many charity shops which is a sad reflection of local council management.
Wonderful town walk down to the river Stour though.
A few interesting restaurants would be an added attraction for all generations, as well.

Winterborne Houghton which is actually the village we stayed in. Blandford Forum is a 15 minute drive away. Houghton is a very pretty village with lovely gardens and houses. Lots of thatched properties. There is a fish farm which sells delicious fresh trout and Arctic charr. There is a pub which was very nice but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment on the food. We walked to the pub, about a mile. Very friendly people.

It's a lovely town with a great museum, scenic river walks and nice cafes, restaurants and bars.
One thing to be aware of is that public transport is limited at weekends. There are no bus services to Shaftesbury or Salisbury or Yeovil on Saturdays and Sundays.

I am relocating back to Blandford (thru personal choice) so it can’t be too bad !
Few empty shops which is a shame, could do with a bit of upgrading of shops and facilities and I thought a cinema was in the pipeline, but no show yet!

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and would have been happy to extend it given the opportunity. The room was clean spacious and comfortable and given that they are built around the courtyard it felt as if we had our own patio outside.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the food was well presented and delicious. The location in a peaceful country hamlet between Blandford and Wimbourne was perfect for a relaxing break and very dog friendly. An absolute gem.
The house was in a really handy spot, within easy walking distance of the centre of Blandford Forum. The keys were in a lock box so easy to collect at a time that suited us. Downstairs was open plan and a nice light room, Upstairs, we just used one of the bedrooms to sleep in and that was fine. The water for the bath and shower was warm and the shower worked well. We liked the electric theme and the various lights and related things in the house.
Breakfast was good with options for both cooked or uncooked. We enjoyed our evening meals and the beer was good. This location is in a rural setting, but convenient for local towns and no problem if you have a car. We stayed for two nights and managed to visit Blandford Forum, Wimborne Minster and Kingston Lacy. The new owner made us feel very welcome.
The room was comfortable, well decorated, and very spacious. The breakfast was delicious, both from the buffet and the menu. Blandford Forum makes for a great location to explore this beautiful area of England. The staff were incredibly friendly & helpful, and the pub was fun and has a cozy ambiance and a good selection of drinks.
Complimentary drink on arrival. The quality of food was excellent and the breakfasts were huge. A lovely touch was to be offered a bottle of tap water with our meal.
The staff were very attentive, chatty and helpful.
This hotel was above our expectations in many respects. We had a wonderful time.
Tanya & Jon were absolutely lovely, they made us feel very welcome and are really friendly. The breakfast was perfect and they went the extra mile to make us have the best stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering a stay in Blandford to go for St Leonards Farmhouse.
This is a slightly old-fashioned hotel and I mean that as a compliment, not a criticism. It reflects the history and the character of the town in which it sits. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food was good and occasionally very good indeed.
Lovely accommodation, was ideal for spending time with my son who is based at Blandford Camp. Everything you would need, with extra touches that were appreciated such a washing pods, an airer to dry clothes, lots of socket spaces, etc.
Good central location set just off Blandford bypass so easy to access commuter routes for work. Quiet with great wifi. Its retained some of the original stable stall features which just border on the quaint, quirky side.
the hotel is simply great, rooms are very roomy, clean and comfortable. The staff are very nice and helpful. hotel is situated next to all the facilities you need
I must like it as I’ve stayed over 15 times
This is a beautiful country house in a lovely rural setting on the edge of Blandford Forum and walking distance from a great pub. The breakfast is exceptional and the welcome very warm !
Excellent location in the centre of Blandford Forum, with free parking available.
Atmospheric Georgian rooms - a good experience.
Local beer available. Breakfast was good.
