Very nice, renovated and family friendly Hotel. We had an apartment with two rooms for 5 people. I would say especially, nice location to spend time also with smaller children, because there is a big playground infront of the hotel and also play corner on the groundfloor inside of the house. Near the hotel is Cafe, where you can order very delicious, homemade and also traditional food. Everything is very close. Hiking trail is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

It's in Hřensko, the Czech size of the Bad Schandau area, and you can get there by taking the S-Bahn train to Schoena (the German side), then cross the river by ferry. Location-wise it's in the middle of all hiking routes and landmarks, so I'd highly suggest people stay in this hostel instead of the core Bad Schandau area.
The guy who welcomed us was very nice, recommending us a few restaurants we could go to in the town. Breakfast was classic European style, and the scrambled eggs were so creamy! We got a room with a balcony facing the Elbe River, the beds are comfy, perfect for a short stay! They have plenty of space for parking if you drive.
Surrounded by the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, 3.7 mi from the center of Hřensko, U Fořta Mezní Louka offers an on-site restaurant with a terrace.

Breakfast could be improved, but location and closeness to nature is a major plus.

The location is only about 1 km from Schmilka on the "Malerweg". The rates are better in the "Tschechische Rpublic" than in Schmilka, Germany. The owner gave us the code well ahead of time and kept it, so that we did not have to rely on our cell phone. There was a store and restaurant next door. Great view across the Elbe-River.
Penzion Vlasta features free WiFi throughout the property and views of river in Hřensko. Featuring a restaurant, the property also features a garden and a bar.
Located just 1640 feet from the Elbe River in the center of Hřensko, Penzion Oáza offers charming accommodations with free Wi-Fi in the middle of Bohemian Switzerland.

Great fun! Rooms are sparse but clean and comfortable.

Nice area for hiking. Quiet accomodations, no noise.

Čistota, přístup personálu, výborná kuchyně. Doporučuji!

That corner of Czechia has been described as the lowest point of the country in elevation, and also in taste. There are numerous shops, all run by Vietnamese, selling the same unbranded shirts, shoes, etc. Anything that was branded was of dubious authenticity. I was caught out a few times as credit cards are generally unknown and ATM's will charge CZK195 (!) per cash transaction. Don't expect a convenience store selling day-to-day items, as the shops I visited focussed mainly on bottled drinks, alcohol and cigarettes. However, the location is simply amazing.

The landscape is truly unique in this part of Europe.
The landscape is truly unique in this part of Europe. Despite some trails being closed because of recent forest fires, there was still plenty hiking. I can't remember my last trip when I went "wow!" multiple times a day. Four days is definitely not enough to take in the sheer beauty of this location. We were there in october and the autumn landscapes felt like living in a painting, superb!

The village itself is rather bleak (many closed hotels and restaurants make it so), but then I did not expect it to be the main point of my stay. It's the Bohemian Switzerland National Park that counts and Hřensko (especially the Mezní Louka part where I stayed) is a very convenient base for a walker like myself.

Bring your walking/hiking shoes and check the park schedule.
Bring your walking/hiking shoes and check the park schedule. We were here on closing weekend so it was very busy but we had a great time. We are not in great shale, the hike took us longer than the younger and more fit hikers but the scenery was beautiful and worth the sore legs the next day.

Excellent distinction for those adventurous.
Excellent distinction for those adventurous. The autumn season is just beautiful up in the national park. Unfortunately it was misty and rainy the day we were there. We got to do the boat ride and saw the arch. But the fog limited the iconic images of the arch. Did not get to see anything else on our list. I would recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy the hiking, nature and scenery.

Hřensko is a small village, very easy to get around.
Hřensko is a small village, very easy to get around. Although there are many options to eat, thez all serve the same type of cuisine - mostly unhealthy food (svickova, gulas, dumplings); there are very few vegetarian and basically none vegan options for a decent meal. You will get a nice fish at Ceska hospoda and Restaurant U Lipy.
Hrensko is set in a beautiful scenery of the river, rocks and forests, but what disturbes the atmosphere and the genius loci are the cheap clothes/trinkets/tasteless music stands and shops everywhere, focused to cater mainly the German clientelle. The town would do itself a favour if it would rebrand itself and offer some quality traditional Czech or local products/crafts.
Great location to discover the area.
Nice restaurant in the street. Very friendly, good food, plenty of choice, not expensive.
Tip: do the 6,5 km walk to Pravčická brána from this town, not from Hrensko. The walk is longer, but only the last 2km are hard. (When you start in Hrensko, the way is only up).
Jan is a very friendly host and when you send him a message, he answers almost directly!
The place is very reccomended! Nice garden and everything you need is in the house.
This is a great example of “not judging a book by its cover”. The hotel was built at the end of the 19th century and the outside is a little sad and needs some tlc. BUT the food was superb (real Czech food) and the staff were lovely. The bathroom is excellent and the bedroom was really clean and comfy.
The breakfast is amazing and great value for money - we never needed a lunch.
The whole stay was amazing value for money and. We greatly enjoyed it
Really a modern hotel, we stayed for 2 nights in the room and 1 night in the bungalow, i would say if you are only with 2 people a room is more than fine. (Both have smart tv with netflix/youtube)
The location is not to beat right in the national park with easy bus connections if you want to hike in the german side. Restaurant is priced really fairly with wonderfull food and good 🍺
Pension Jitřenka Hřensko is one of the most comfortable and clean places we stayed in, everything is great about this hotel the location which is overlooking the river and close to most of the attractions nearby, exceptional breakfast with a great varieties, cleanliness of the room, very helpful staff, if I had to visit Hřensko again I would for sure stay again in this hotel.
Very close to the German border, so you can easily reach both the Bohemian and the Saxon Switzerland, or even Dresden for a day trip. The hotel is clean and quiet, nicely furbished. You can have dinner on the ground floor or in nearby restaurants (Hrensko is very small). The car park is well organized (each car gets its own designated place for the whole stay).
Super nice place for hiking and comfortable accomodation after. Kitchen include all for cooking, even oil and salt (this was important for me, because I trawel with my 6-year daughter). Nights was quiet, bads and blankets really comfortable. Cleannes - top notch. And very frendly owner. I will definitely accommodate here next time. Thank you very much.
The hotel was quite comfortable and honest about it's offer. They make sure you are aware that you chose a room with a shared bathroom. However, these shared bathrooms feel actually more like private bathrooms outside of your room, since it is one private room with sink, shower and toilet. You will not be sharing it with anyone else at the same time.
Love the location, we were traveling to go for a hike and the hotel is right on the hike path.
I loved the restaurant, the food, and the fire stove, perfect when coming back from a hike with snow and having a garlic soup next to the fire when coming back
The location of this hotel is perfect for enjoying The Bohemian Switzerland Park. The staff is English-speaking and can direct you where to go. You will need google translate for signs and buses.
The restaurant was the perfect end to an all day hike.
👍 Nice Nice Nice , the behavior of Hotel staff is 100% Friendly , second day they changed Hairdryer because we have curly hair , we didn't ask it but they had paid attention , it is respectful . Room was clean and comfortable .
Vere nice hotel for a great price. Breakfast was great and also dinner in the restaurant was very tasty. Booking the wellness is definitely good choice. Great location easy to reach with the car. Free parking available.
Staff(restaurant and reception) was very friendly and helpful.Rooms basic, but clean and confortable.Food in the restaurant was high quality.Hotel is situated close to attraction .
