Andermatt is a cosy little ski town that is far from the party vibe of somewhere like Verbier. The benefit of that is it's not as busy and the prices are a little more "affordable" shall we say (keeping in mind it's still Switzerland!). While it feels much smaller its very easy to get to by train - the journey there is breathtaking! The little train that takes you directly from mid-mountain to the other resorts close by is brilliant as well. Only thing missing might be a bit more of an après-scene on the mountain I would say (if you're into that). Also should be noted they are building a huge new village next to the old village which will be awesome when it's complete. But until that point there are a few cranes and some drilling noises that may bother some people (didn't bother us!).

Andermatt is a lovely town that includes an exceptional ski resort. The town itself has several lovely restaurants, pubs, wine bars, coffee shops. There is a small, but well stocked grocery store as well. The locals were very kind. Felt very safe. Family friendly.

For the two days I was there, I loved Andermatt.
For the two days I was there, I loved Andermatt. It has a spectacular setting amongst stunning mountain scenery. I stayed in a lovely guesthouse (Zum Sternen) in the picturesque village centre with a beautiful Chapel just above the square and typical mountain river flowing nearby. Full of colour with local and Swiss national flags flying, and beautiful wooden buildings. I will definitely come again...and again.....

Andermatt is a small alpine village, ideally located for the Gotthard Pass, Furka Pass and Oberalp Pass. The village is flat and easy to get around by foot, bike or car. Excellent train connections including the Glacier Express. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Ideal for cycling and trail running.

Andermatt is a beautiful little town with all the amenities you really need. A well-stocked grocery store and numerous shops, easy train and bus access, a free ski shuttle, rental shops for outdoor gear, hiking and biking trails galore, and spectacular mountain views. Everything seemed to be a 15-minute walk from everywhere, which was very convenient; plus making use of the free shuttle simplified walking times (bus drivers were very friendly and willing to stop and ask if we needed a ride). Everyone spoke English well, which simplified our travel experience. Switzerland is very expensive, and Andermatt is no exception; consider checking menu prices before committing to a week spent dining in restaurants (we had an apartment and cooked more than we dined out). We did have some spectacular traditional fondue at Hotel Sonne’s restaurant (in the downtown), which was a delight.

Andermatt is located in the very core of the Lepontine Alps, close to many passes and breathtaking mountain views. Either in Summer of winter, the town is plagued with amenities, activities and excursion courses. Restaurants and ok and always enjoying the Swiss traditional class. Swiss is expensive, but the trip worths every Franc. I will return thousand times. Switzerland is the only country where anyone may feel at home once you arrive.
Great location within walking distance of all lifts. The perfect small town ski village guesthouse. Amenities were perfect for our ski trip, with ski storage that included boot and glove warmers. Breakfast each morning was perfect for the start of a long ski day. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!
Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Personnel extremely helpful, helping us with the luggages and indicating the way to the private car park, which is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast was tasty and offering a good variety of products. Last, but not least, Andermatt is a lovely village, pity we only stayed 1 day.
The room was huge and absolutely stunning, the bed super comfortable and the hotel achritecture beautiful. The breakfast had a wide selection of options. The Spa was enormous and had many pools, two saunas and two steamrooms. The hotel has an ideal location in Andermatt, close to the train station and the gondolas for skiing.
The rooms are actually suites, with lounge and kitchenette and separate bedroom and en-suite facilities. Spotlessly clean and modern and very comfortable. The hotel is very central in Andermatt, quite literally a few steps into the central area of restaurants , bars and cafes.
Charming place in the heart of Andermatt within easy walking distance to the ski lifts, restaurants, shops, etc. The host was extremely nice and welcoming. Very homey, yummy breakfast, parking in a garage included, ski storage area, cute and clean. Would 100% stay again!
Amazing stuff and very friendly, the hotel is amazing also and very luxury, its designed by Japanese designer, very nice hotel for relaxing. And last thing the house keeping is really nice and they work as a team they clean every thing in less than half hour !
The location was perfect for our ski trip. Free public bus was right across the street that could take us anywhere in town. Ski run was a short walk from the apartment. Garage for parking our car was very convenient. Place was very clean and fully stocked!
There was a friendly welcome and all the staff we met were very helpful. The location is super and you really feel like you are in the heart of the old Andermatt.
The room was comfortable and the bathroom was particularly well designed.
Spent a weekend in Andermatt towards the very end of summer. The apartments are new and have everything you need, including good quality fittings and a furnished kitchen. An excellent alternative to a traditional hotel.
I thought the location of Gasthaus zum Sternen was in a perfect location. Short walk to both lifts, and train station. Ski back to from Gemstock. Local bus stop right outside the door.
This apartment is located in the second closest property to the main ski lift in Andermatt. Just a really clean and modern apartment, had everything we needed and more.
Guesthouse is located right beside the station with a great view. Warm, comfortable, cosy and clean rooms. Somewhere quiet from the buzz from Andermatt
