A Very Special pup, one of those that grace Monte da Pega, seeking solace. A fallen, desiccated tree, wrenched from its root, rests against the bordering wall adorned with vines. This tree only emanates purple, pink, and lavender hues by night. An olive tree, age-old with over two millennia, and enchanting, colorful birds on the wall, provide daytime companionship to the puppy. In the distance, the silhouette of Monsaraz Castle completes the backdrop. This is how my screenplay unfolds. Nights at Monte da Pega, sleep eluded me as its enchantment took hold. I wrote over the span of two nights, amidst open fields, alongside my characters who had evaded my grasp for two years. I caught naps during the afternoon, when the warmth embraced the land. All that I've penned above exists, a tangible reality. I wrote over the span of two nights, amidst open fields, alongside my characters who had evaded my grasp for two years. I caught naps during the afternoon, when the warmth embraced the land. In "Miura", Penguin Random House Group, Ago 2023

Great location. Interesting, quirky property. Roof terrace would be lovely at a warmer time of year. Breakfast including fresh fruit was really good value considering it was just a €2.50 add on. Friendly owner. We stayed in an economy room which just has a skylight window but we knew that in advance. Would like to have had a look a look at the other rooms all representing ex Portuguese colonies.

Ignore the fact that there is no internet and stay at this delightful cottage in beautiful Monsaraz. It is the perfect location - very quiet and has the luxury of car parking at the door. A beautiful bedroom with a super comfortable bed and quality bedding. We enjoyed the private terrace - which affords lovely views over the valley. The kitchen is equipped with all that we required and there was nice welcome gifts from the host. Everywhere spotlessly clean.
