Great location with a steam train nearby that takes you lakeside for boat rides and activities.

We paid for a superior room overlooking the river, but it was quite noisy - the river and the generator room adjacent. Took some time to get used to it, but my daughter struggled. The hotel ran out of lager Friday lunchtime (believe it or not), but replenished by the evening.

Nice location overlooking the river and the staff were v friendly.

A little tired looking in places although very clean. The bed was very uncomfortable.

The location and the views are stunning. There is a nice relaxed vibe to the hotel

The breakfast was terrible, food in other bar was expensive but poor. Some of the staff clearly hate customers. The guy on hotel reception was great.

Beautiful location, gorgeous hotel. Access to pool and gym was awesome.

The only thing that let this place down was the breakfast! Sausage and bacon was undercooked, it looked like it had been boiled and it looked raw still. Also the layout and effort put into the breakfast buffet really let it down! Such a shame because everything else was so so perfect!

Mostly everything! What a fabulous place to stay. The scenery is outstanding, the building is beautiful. Cascades was a lovely place to relax, in the pool and steam room. It honestly was so lovely.

The evening meal in the restaurant was awful, fish platter was overcooked, not fresh fish. The prawn starter described as tiger prawns were not tiger prawns at all. Duck meal was tasteless absolutely no flavour. 2 courses with 1 glass of wine & 1 j20 was over £90. Yet we had lunch from the bar on the terrace earlier in the day & it was delicious.

The location was wonderful & peaceful. The room with balcony was gorgeous, although a sweep of the balcony to get rid of cobwebs prior to guests arrival might be a good idea. The jacuzzi bath was a lovely surprise.

Breakfast was good but the cups were stained.

The room was comfortable for a family of 4. The swimming pool was a bonus; we used it daily after our walks. Good location. There were lots of parking spaces.

Nothing! Would happily return to this hotel

Fabulous location next to the river. Rooms where dated which was expected when booking so in no way a negative and I mention it as the place is spotless, very spacious and extremely well kept. Nice easy check in at reception and sitting outside the bar areas with a drink whilst the river flowed past was so tranquil. Leisure facilities did the job and again spotlessly clean even if the water temp of the pool and jacuzzi was a bit on the cooler side. Breakfast was basic in comparison to other places but it was hot and filled a hole ready for another day exploring this amazing area!

No massive issues, couple of minor things, the breakfast had yogurts out of date, needs a new toaster, the room had a hot tap and a loose warm tap instead of a cold tap which made teeth brushing unpleasantly warm (may just be me) mattress was super soft but not in a good way.

Hotel is a lovely gothic-esque mill, staff were very friendly, stunning view over the river and nearby waterfall, food was of an acceptable quality, bartender was very friendly, plenty of parking, riverside tables outside which was great to sit with a drink in the evening.

Only think is it is a bit out of the way. We went for drinks in Windermere but because it was a 20-25 min drive back we couldn’t really stay out for long as had the car. Depends what you are after really

We had just done Helvellyn so were looking to stay somewhere nice with a pool/spa for the next day but didn’t cost an arm and a leg. It was one of the cheapest options and met our expectations. Nice room and comfy bed. Small breakfast but I filled up my plate with a very nice fry up. Steam room was good the next day, and jacuzzi by the pool was nice sat there for a few hours so was worth the stay.
