This was an excellent penthouse apartment. Our host was very friendly and carried our bags up to the apartment. Being at 1440m up, we had perfect views of the snowy mountains from our balcony. It was extremely clean and lots of extra luxury items were provided. We also had a mini bar and snacks in the room. My dog was given a bed and some bowls, and we were allowed a flexible check out time. Will definitely be returning.

The location was superb, right at a lift in the heart of the ski resort with easy access by train. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the specific room I had was suitable for a couple and was clean, even with slippers provided. The bed was fine. The breakfast was fully sufficient.

Andermatt is a cosy little ski town that is far from the party vibe of somewhere like Verbier. The benefit of that is it's not as busy and the prices are a little more "affordable" shall we say (keeping in mind it's still Switzerland!). While it feels much smaller its very easy to get to by train - the journey there is breathtaking! The little train that takes you directly from mid-mountain to the other resorts close by is brilliant as well. Only thing missing might be a bit more of an après-scene on the mountain I would say (if you're into that). Also should be noted they are building a huge new village next to the old village which will be awesome when it's complete. But until that point there are a few cranes and some drilling noises that may bother some people (didn't bother us!).

Andermatt is a lovely town that includes an exceptional ski resort. The town itself has several lovely restaurants, pubs, wine bars, coffee shops. There is a small, but well stocked grocery store as well. The locals were very kind. Felt very safe. Family friendly.

For the two days I was there, I loved Andermatt.
For the two days I was there, I loved Andermatt. It has a spectacular setting amongst stunning mountain scenery. I stayed in a lovely guesthouse (Zum Sternen) in the picturesque village centre with a beautiful Chapel just above the square and typical mountain river flowing nearby. Full of colour with local and Swiss national flags flying, and beautiful wooden buildings. I will definitely come again...and again.....

Andermatt is a beautiful little town with all the amenities you really need. A well-stocked grocery store and numerous shops, easy train and bus access, a free ski shuttle, rental shops for outdoor gear, hiking and biking trails galore, and spectacular mountain views. Everything seemed to be a 15-minute walk from everywhere, which was very convenient; plus making use of the free shuttle simplified walking times (bus drivers were very friendly and willing to stop and ask if we needed a ride). Everyone spoke English well, which simplified our travel experience. Switzerland is very expensive, and Andermatt is no exception; consider checking menu prices before committing to a week spent dining in restaurants (we had an apartment and cooked more than we dined out). We did have some spectacular traditional fondue at Hotel Sonne’s restaurant (in the downtown), which was a delight.

Andermatt is located in the very core of the Lepontine Alps, close to many passes and breathtaking mountain views. Either in Summer of winter, the town is plagued with amenities, activities and excursion courses. Restaurants and ok and always enjoying the Swiss traditional class. Swiss is expensive, but the trip worths every Franc. I will return thousand times. Switzerland is the only country where anyone may feel at home once you arrive.
I am not being fair in my sole criticism and this literally the only thing you could say even remotely negative, the breakfast is a typical European breakfast. if you have been to some very expensive upscale hotels you may have had a breakfast with every choice under the sun, this is not that, although it was very very good. everything tasted wonderful the staff is truly the best I have ever stayed with. I can’t in any words tell you how pleased I was with the stay, the service and the entire experience.
Fabulous location for motorcyclists at the head of the Oberal, Furka, and Grimsel Passes. Park in front of the hotel and enjoy the feeling of isolation......its truly magnificent. The hotel is clean and well maintained and we loved the decor. The food is wonderful, especially the large fresh breakfast. As bikers, we arrived a little late but were still accommodated dinner-wise......just as well considering the location.
I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Sternen. It’s a charmingly traditional, family-run place with a cozy restaurant and comfortable rooms. The location in the center of the old village is ideal. Parking in the nearby garage is included, approximately 100 m near the Coop. Best to unload luggage at the hotel before parking. I would certainly stay here again, should I return to Andermatt.
Lovely looking hotel that sits on a great driving road. The staff were lovely and polite speaking good English. Breakfast was lovely too. I woke up to 4" of snow covering my car and the staff we happy to provide me with tools to clear it.
There was also a 50" (approx) TV in my room with Fire Stick installed, so I could watch youtube/netflix etc which was a nice touch.
- Very friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff - they really made us feel very welcome.
- Lovely old-style hotel in the centre of the small village of Andermatt, close to restaurants, bakery and shops, and a 5 minute walk from the train station and gondola.
- Good sauna (book in advance).
- Rooms very comfortable. We were next to the river which was lovely.
Pleasant surprise. We were met by the owner who spoke perfect English, offered us free beer and all the communication was excellent. Our room was tiny, but everything worked and was clean. Although hotel states that there is no parking, we found a paid public parking near the building. The hotel itself is located in the very center of the town.
Nice family hotel; next to the Gemsstock cable car. The room are clean, beds are comfortable, the people here are very friendly. It was our second stay in this hotel, a very good place to enjoy ski in Andermatt. This time we also could enjoy dinner at the restaurant there; very tasty.
Excellent hotel with modern facilities. However AC in the rooms did not work and when enquired with the staff we were told it’s not working. We stayed in early June so not too much of a problem. But worth checking with the hotel before booking.
The Chedi is a wonderful experience from the moment you arrive. The hotel interior design is beautiful, the room was stunning and very comfortable, the staff were so helpful. The spa was a delight and the Japanese restaurant exceptional.
Great location in the heart of the village with lovely views and the relaxing sound of cowbells on the slopes.
The hotel was a traditional, ski-chalet type - clean, functional and the host was very welcoming.
This apartment is located in the second closest property to the main ski lift in Andermatt. Just a really clean and modern apartment, had everything we needed and more.
Nice little hotel just across the street of the famous "Chedi", that means perfect location for a reasonable price. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was rich.
Clean and warm. The photos don't do the accommodation justice. Much better value for money in a cosy spacious and clean room than all the overpriced hotels nearby.
