We really enjoyed our stay. First impressions were good as it is an attractive building set with a good sized car park, gardens and, of course, the pool.
After travelling, it was lovely to enjoy the swimming pool which was a great temperature. The hostess provided us with extra towels.
Our room was on the top floor with a dormer window giving a view across Bayonne. The room was nicely laid out with quality furniture and had black out shutter style blinds, air conditioning and a Lavazza coffee machine and a kettle.
The hotel was about a twenty minute walk (or 5 minute drive) from the centre of Bayonne which we found to be beautiful. We enjoyed dinner in a restaurant by the river.
In the morning, breakfast was served downstairs. The breakfast buffet was extensive and high quality.
Overall very impressive.

Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable.
Bayonne is a beautiful little town, absolutely adorable. There are loads of nice restaurants and the people are very friendly. There are also a lot of nice little shops, and the market Saturday morning is lovely. You can walk everywhere, but there are also little buses you can ride for free. The rivers in the center are impressive and beautiful, and you can stay looking at the water for hours, especially when the tide water comes up and goes down.
We also took a lunch and afternoon trip to Guéthary (that a server at a bar recommended us), a tiny little town by the sea. Beautiful and really nice food.

Bayonne (Baiona) is a lovely town, very Basque.
Bayonne (Baiona) is a lovely town, very Basque. Great restaurants, and handy for the road south into Spain. BUT: parking is an issue. If you are staying in the centre, the station car park costs upwards of €14. If you like a couple of glasses of wine with dinner... otherwise it's a taxi at similar cost.

Very beautiful, authentic and preserved medieval town in the Basque Country of France. The downtown area is small and bisected by a river, it doesn't get much prettier than that. The food scene is fantastic, with plenty of Basque and French options - I'd recommend Les Tontons Flingueurs, and PATXAMAMA. Also, try the chocolates there, they are amazing! (L'Atelier du Chocolat, Chocolaterie Puyodebat). The ritzy beaches and charming old town of Biarritz are just a 15-minute drive away.

The atmosphere around city helped to make a very enjoyable stay ,both sightseeing and visiting bars and restaurants. A bus/tram has improved greatly link between Bayonne and Biarritz allowing visitors to spend time on beaches without actually staying there.

We only stopped during a trip from Northern France to Portugal. We didn't see any of Bayonne. We chose the hotel as it was just off the motorway and good for quick access back on the motorway the next morning.
Beautiful old basque building in the historic town with easy access to tourist sites. Bus stop close to hotel with regular buses to Biarritz town and Airport. 1 bus stop away from Bayonne train station or an easy walk.
Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. A kettle and hairdryer were provided in the bedroom. An easy check in after reception hours.Nice breakfast served by friendly, helpful staff. Restaurants by the Riverside at close proximity..
We've traveling for a weekend with our dog and it turned that Ibis Styles in Bayonne met all of our expectations and became the best complement that made our staying perfect. The staff is really friendly and nice, hotel is based just two minutes away from the city center and 150 meters from the railway station. The breakfast was delicious, while coffee and tea were available from 12:00 - 22:00 pm if needed.
I absolutely love the breakfast at Le Grand Hotel. I've been coming here for over 15 years, and it has become like a second home. Better than a second home, in fact, because of the breakfast. The floors may be slanted and the elevator is a sight to see. The fact that it is right in the center and steps away from the walkable shopping district, the cathedral and the farmer's market all add to the charm.
We only had one night here, and this place was a good choice for us. It was a bit of a walk to get to the center of the city, but that was ok because we only had time to go there once, There was a grill attached to the hotel that served good food. That was convenient. Parking was convenient as well.
Maybe the hotel benefits from being in Bayonne, a wonderful city and people. Particularly for anyone arriving by train location perfect across road from station. Cathedral and centre just few minutes walk across river. Staff in hotel friendly and helpful, all in all excellent..
This hotel is in an ideal location in Little Bayonne, easy to walk everywhere and there are many restaurants and cafes to choose from near the hotel. The room was spacious, had a kitchenette, and small fridge. WiFi connection offered was good.
Good hotel for a quick 1 nighter. I was here for less than 12 hours. The check in was really quick & the check out was super convenient. The receptionist was really nice. In the room, the shower pressure was amazing & the bed was comfortable.
A hotel of great character, well situated, good view, a very spacious suite, wonderful staff, the best shower I've ever had, and when we had to leave a day early we were not charged for the night we did not use.
Good hotel for sightseeing with easy parking. A short walk into the historic area of Bayonne along the river. The corridors and rooms were a little dated but the beds were comfortable and everywhere was clean.
Coffee machine had a soup option. It was great as I have got flu while visiting beautiful biarritz. When i am back hôtel, I enjoyed cup of tea and soup, was good for the sore throat recovery. Thanks.
Good breakfast, but there is room for improvement (there wasn't natural orange juice, for instance). The parking was great, and the hotel is well situated for a short travel.
